The Kulturstiftung Dortmund has this week announced 28-year-old VC Young Artist Marc Bouchkov as the recipient of the 2019 €5,000 Young Artist Music Prize.

Presented annually since 1992 to an instrumentalist or fine artist who is actively promoting art and culture in the German Westfalen Metropolis region, previous recipients include cellist Nicolas Altstaedt and pianist Alexander Krichel.

A graduate of the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Boris Garlitzky, and current student of Mihaela Martin at the Kronberg Academy, Marc is a former 1st prize winner at the Henri Koch and Montreal International Violin Competitions – and was last month awarded 2nd prize at the 2019 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition.
